DC starter on an SC?

I was reading a old post about putting a starter from a DC onto an SC.
Is that possible?
DC appears larger.

I don't think a DC starter would fit.

If you have the two to compare count the teeth on the starter drive, I suspect they are the same, my gut feeling is that if the locating bolt is in the same position it will interchange. I could be totally off base here because I have never tried it, let me know what you come up with, I am very curious as if it fits a SC starter should be more than adequate to start a converted to 12V.

Yes a DC starter will fit on SC. I have done it you have to make sure the bolt for the band is positioned so it doesn't hit the block otherwise its okay.

Let me know if you get it to work. I'm thinking that i tried the same thing about 15 years ago and it didn't work. I think I still have the starter.

Seems like I plowed that field before Too ,with no productive results as best i recall .and Just today, i think the starter drive busted on my DC. gonna have to get it fixt now .

I know an SC starter will work on a DC, but I'm not sure about the opposite.
