Been wanting to use this since I bought it some 15 years ago or more, This filed I have been working on getting loosened up deeper than 4 or 5", after many adjustments i have it set so it does not tail out, takes a bit of time to plow 15 acres only cutting 30" at a time but I am very close to being done,, the 970 is a bit over kill on HP but sure was nice to have a cab with our fall Windy/Kool weather

I have a 3 bottom trailer type disc plow of unknown make. Judging by the length of the beam, it may well have been a 4 bottom at one time. I got it in the hope that I could use it on rough pasture as people say they will cut roots and roll over rock/ledge. Darned if I can get it to plow right. Maybe it's our clay, but even starting it in a furrow it wants to walk right out of the ground and ride on the discs. All 3 wheels have cast weights on them IIRC. Have to get the time to play with it some more.

Tom, this looks like 60's vintage, probably a 1966 and on? To go on a "930" or "1030"? Or pre 64? On a "830" or "730"?

Tom , Great pictures and nice to see the disc plow being used. Question, will the 770 pull that plow? If so I may need to look for one. Have a great day .Jerry from Ohio

It is always nice to see how things are done differently in other parts of the country. Your country looks very different from what we have here in northwest MO. It looks like your plow is doing a good job. Thanks for the explanation on the disc plows.

What is the advantage of using a disc plow compared to a moldboard plow? I don't remember seeing a disc plow in northern MO back when everyone plowed. I see a few now in collections but they are still very unusual around here. Nice pictures and thanks for posting.

Pulls easier, can plow deeper, works in hard packed down ground better, breaks up the material better in most conditions, this one can cut up to 14" deep, according to Case they were mainly for the California irrigated deltas I think is how they put it,, cnt

Depends on soil conditions, I was running 4.5 mph but in mellower soils I am sure you could run 5 -51/2 mph cnt

Yes they did but not in mounted models, they made up to a 6 bottom pull-type, it was Huge and took either a 4x4 or crawler to pull it, here is a pic I had handy of a four bottom with smaller discs than the 5and 6 bottom ones had

Looks like a new unit. Why do you suppose they are towing it backwards in the pic? Just took it off the truck??? Seems like they would have hooked it up correctly for the photo op.
