There are no differences in the new machines to vary swing speed, you can slow it down by lowering the rpms. The reliefs in the cylinder are cushioning reliefs for end of swing and have no effect on swing speed.

Thanks for all the info guys! I guess I just need more practice. A friend was saying swing speed can be adjusted so when you floor it one way it only goes so fast. Maybe thats on newer backhoes.

You could try installing smaller id hoses to the swing cylinders. It will restrict the oil volume per second but you will keep the pressure the same.

This takes some practice but try operating the swing and as it nears the digging position push the dipper out and ease off the swing and at the right place or hole and then boom down.

there is no adjustment on speed other than you just move the lever as much as it takes to get the speed you want

Not sure if this is applicable or not. My 310B parts book (not sure what model the Hoe is, not given) lists a #23108 swing cylinder valve. Then below this parts teardown is a #23109 "special" relief valve for the swing cylinder valve. This is adjustable, as a "screw, valve adjusting" ..... ..... and then the teardown of this valve follows. It doesn't say if this was an "option" or what, and I'm not sure if it would do anything to the control swing. Less pressure would certainly do something. My pedals are easy to work and moderate the swing speed..

they have a valve that allows them to coast to a stop different, that may be the one you are seeing, they also have their own pressure relief that is adjustable, cnt
