I hauled a load of scrap yesterday morning and found this 400 setting there and I bought it. Someone hauled it in there for scrap. Motor would only roll over half way I got it to roll 360 I had to clean carb, sanded points, wire brushed plugs and hooked jumper wire from coil to battery and it started up I drove it around about 30 minutes to day. It's running in pics.

first thing i thought of looking at it is i wonder who is missing this tractor as we have had tractors and farm machinery missing and scraped. I myself have had thousands of $ worth of New parts stolen and only found a few as these scrape yard know that about a 1/3 of what they buy is hot and they process it as fast as they can and get it off there property

Our good friend, John Saeli has new fenders and more than likely can hook you up with a replacement air cleaner. (315-585-9826).
It is hard to believe people would send a tractor that nice to a scrap yard.
Loren

Nice save! As Chuck said welcome to the 400 club. It makes me sick what some people think is scrap. John Saeli, Don Livingston, or Elmer's Repair should be able to set you up with a replacement oil bath air filter. If you have questions let us know.

Eli

Thank You for saving her all We as CASE people can do is try to save as many pieces of CASE equipment as We can before they are all in the scrap because some people just don't know what or don't appreciate what they have.

Unbelievable what some people will scrap. That "scrap" tractor looks nicer then some of mine that I bought running and aren't scrap worthy.

Jth88, where are you? I think I have the whole oil-bath air cleaner from my 400. I relocated a dry element type under the gas tank, so I could put side curtains on it for the cold weather. Not sure if the rubber hose is there, I could look tomorrow if you are interested.
Would you be willing to share how much that tractor cost? Makes my daily runner look like junk....

Today's Featured Article - Recollections of a John Deere GP - by Charlie Cook. I grew up on my dad's 280 acre general farm in Western Michigan. Dad's only tractor when I was very young was the old GP. My first recollection of this tractor was when dad allowed my brother and myself to ride on the tractor with him driving. One of us would sit on the left fender (away from the clutch) and other would sit on the gas tank and hold onto the crankcase breather pipe. ... [Read Article]
