I have a 2870 case that always started as soon as I would hit the key. Now it starts then dies. I have to crank for awhile then it will sputter for a few seconds and finally starts to run and runs fine. The fuel must be bleeding back. Is there a check valve or somthing that needs to be replaced?

I've had the seals in primer pump go bad and allow for the fuel leak back.

I had the same problem & it was a loose fitting between the sediment bowl & pump.. Check the sediment bowl glass itself & all the fittings on the suction side of the pump.
