I picked up the plow I posted about yesterday. Good straight plow, moldboards rusty but not pitted, ought to clean up, no welds anywhere. The only problem is the missing tail wheel, the one the owner had was the wrong one. Mike

Good find. Couple new tires, the tailwheel and drag it through the dirt for a bit to shine those bottoms up and she will be ready for work. Where about in central Iowa are you located? I'm just west of Des Moines.

I will have to work on the hub, from the picture Tom posted last night it is a 5 maybe a 6 bolt hub, I will have to see what I can locate. The previous owner had another plow just like it, but newer 50 feet away it was a very nice plow, ready to go, but he wanted to keep it. I don't blame him. Mike

Can you find a hub that works on it? I might know of a wheel and tire from a later plow. Barry.

Nice plow. I don"t have a tractor large enough to pull it, but if I had the plow, I would probably go get a tractor large enough. Could you make one of those solid rotary mower wheels work?

Welding Basics - by Curtis Von Fange. One of the most useful skills that an owner of older equipment can have is the knowledge and ability to weld. It seems like the older equipment can do a job, albeit slowly compared to newer stuff, but it tends to break more often. Many of the breakdowns are related to the implements that are being used: the disc, wagon or bushog are among them. Knowing how to fix stress cracks, reinforce weak joints by welding on steel support plates, or cutting and shaping parts and adapters out of raw stee
