Hi Ernie,
Yes I am sure that Tom is 100% correct , the "LA"
engine was a 4 cylinder , gas /distalate engine, Bore- 4 5/8 inches, Stroke - 6 inches, R.P.M. 1100
Cubic inch displacement - 403 cubic inches .
Indeed a wonderful engine which was used in both
the models "L" & "LA" from 1929 right through until 1953 , when the "LA" was superceded by another wonderful tractor Case's first diesel,
the model "500" a 6 cylinder of 377 cubic inches.
Hope this is of interest to you.
I own 3 CASE tractors - "400" Diesel-Western Special , Serial No 8104347 , "930" Diesel ,Western Special , Serial No 8165387 and
a model "1200" Traction King (8speed) Serial No
9808137 . I also own a CAT "D2" Serial No 5U6430.
