Happens every fall on my 800 Ford. I end up taking the bowl off and running it open all winter.

I just screwed a plastic bucket bottom over my forklift air cleaner the top was made with a deep indent that fills with water. Thought I had it sealed last year but nope. Doesn"t look elegent but should keep water out.

Just had that happen to my 400. I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't start til I heard that sucking sound too. What a mess to clean up. On mine it was because someone had tightened the nut too tight on the cap and dented it down so the water sat in there. Pounded it out and added a rubber washer from a metal roof screw and it should be good now.

hi jon ,,,yes, it is a mess ..2nd time this happened,,, serveral years ago I left the 800 in a pourin rain while sowin wheat ..next day was hard freeze...and the 800 wouldn't even take ether??? thought then, that the rings were done because it would not draw air... the stock cap lets water in occassionaly .. I wonder if I could politely modify the cap ?

In my younger days, mom, dad and my brother made frequent visits to dad's youngest brother Pete, who took over the home farm from grandpa MIke. It was the typical set-up, milk cows, pigs & chickens. In the winter, we'd play
