Last time I went plowing in the fall around 40 degrees .. my La started to run HOT .. so after a 1/4 mile of plowing ... I had to pull off to the side and let it cool down { left it run } YES the lovers were WIDE OPEN .. so I just was thinking may-be rust and stuff got the bottom neck partially plug .. took the neck off today and stuck a hose in top , not much but a little color water came out .. flush for 10 min. or longer WHAT would you think ,my problem could be ... hoping to do some plowing again this year .. fan belt is new and tight { move it 1/2 inch , but not more than 1 inch .. Thinking it might be the water pump .. can they be rebuilt ... or do I need to start looking for a new one .. THANKS for any and all the information you will share with me ..

.............. mark

Just to chime in on my experience and to agree with casecollector, when I went through my LA and now my L, it's unbelievable how much crud was in the radiator tanks, head and block. I flushed and blew rust out of the block especially for about a week. That stuff is bound to plug the tubes. It just happens after they sit long enough, especially dry. Wish I would have kept track of how much junk I flushed out.

May not work for everyone, but like I said in an earlier post we have had good luck using "The Works" drain cleaner and work the tractor and flush. The cast iron tanks on the D LA etc. flake off and plug the tubes. If a guy knows what he is doing he can use stronger muratic acid, but too much could be a problem.

Hi Mark, That's nice looking soil you're plowing.
When the engine gets hot touch that bottom hose on your radiator lightly to see if it's hot. If it doesn't appear to be hot your radiator tubes may be blocked from crud. Be careful not to burn your fingers. Hal

Not trying to be smart and it's probably not the problem, but I would take the metal Case sign off the grill. I'm sure it's blocking some air flow.

Today's Featured Article - It's Alright Where It Is! - by Anthony West. I have a tale of a different kind to tell. Whilst rooting in the hedge bottoms this week I had cause to visit Chapel lane Farm, the home of an eccentric gentleman by the name of Austin Kendall. I had heard rumours that an old Case Model C was languishing away in the back of one of the outbuildings there. So off I went in search of what would turn out to be a very rare and unusual tractor. Mr Kendall is an excitable chap to say the least. He is amongst the last of a dying breed of farmer who ... [Read Article]
