Anybody know of a good place to get my fuel tank repaired? The tank on my CC doesn"t leak and the main compartment is clean but the baffle has dropped and is laying at the bottom. The rear compartment has a lot of scale and rust inside and I"m not sure if it leaks. On the outside, the entire tank looks pretty good with some original paint, light surface rust, and the original decals are still there. I would like to have it opened up, cleaned, reset the baffle, and reassembled.

I had one like that and used a jigsaw to cut a hole in the front of the tank, leaving about 1 1/2" lip around the entire tank. Once I cleaned it out and wire welded the baffle back in, I welded the piece I cut out back in. Any imperfections in my repair was hidden under the hood.

I bet you find out that your tank has a lot of leaks after you remove the rust. Those tanks are usually pretty thin on the bottom from all the corrosion. I have also had to weld in patches onto the bottom of a CC tank.

Some radiator shops will clean them but I don't think they will open and close them. Heat and gas tanks don't mix.
