LA Oil Filter

I am trying to find a good current part number from any filter manufacturer for a 1952 Case LA oil filter. The first time I tried to change the filter, the replacement was the wrong size, so I just put the old one back in and changed the oil (oil looked VERY clean -- it"s an LP tractor). I have a note in my maintenance log that the filter currently in the tractor is a Hastings L303, but no one seems to be able to cross that to anything else. I have searched the internet 6 ways to Sunday and keep coming up empty. I just purchased a WIX 51006, but it is one inch shorter so it probably won"t work. The dims of the L303 filter are 4" diameter, 6" tall. Any further help would be most appreciated.

I did a little looking around , and that L303 number is no good at all, even at the Hastings site. One place I looked says Case # 8152AB , which subs to Baldwin P73 , but those aren't your dimensions.A P41 is very close , and shows Case applications , both have the same center post dimension . Some of the old bypass filters had a spring and washer on top of the filter to hold it down , maybe that is lost and accounts for the difference in dimensions ...Try the P73 or P41, and if it seals against the center post in the cannister , get an appropriate spring and washer to take up the slack. They are both correct for a bypass application .

I am also interested in figuring out the right one, as my filter is missing from my LA and I the one I got at O'reillys seems too small to fit.

Don't depend on the filter in the CNH filter book as they list the one for the D. Case number is O8927AB. See that helps
