310B gas tank vs. Hood

I'm looking for some insight on my hood and gas tank fill neck. The tractor is a 310B serial # 6099962. I'm also curious to know what year that makes it. The fill neck is located in the middle of the tank, my operators manual and parts manual (R.I. A377) don't agree with one another. The operators manual shows the gas tank fill neck toward the front of the tractor accessible through the same cover as the crank case oil fill. The parts manual show the fill neck in the center of the tank. Confusing things further it appears as though the hood pieces in the same parts manual don't allow for a way to access the gas tank fill neck without removing the hood. My questions are:
Do I have the wrong hood section or the wrong gas tank?
What is the difference between round nose and square nose hood and gas tank?
What are the correct part numbers and terminology to find the right hood or tank?
The numbers are as follows
Tractor 609962
Engine (stamped right side by filter) 181P06671
Gas Tank G15565
Hood (I think I have) G16717 (Gas)
(Not) G15565 (L.C.F.)
As always thanks in advance for you help. This forum has a lot of great people on it and has truly stoked my interest in CASE!

You probably have a tank for a 300 instead of one for a 300b. The center section of the hood opened on them. Lee

I agree with Lee. The tank is not correct for your tractor. Because of that customization, you now have a hood with an extra hole to access the non-standard fuel filler neck.

The tractor is an early 1958 by serial number. It's also distinguishable as a '58 model because the radiator neck/cap are covered by an inspection cover. The 1959 models had the radiator neck and cap extend up through the hood.

I have a good used on with the fill neck in the middle. It is a gas one with no hole for a sender. It was on a 211b. I have other 211b parts for sale, call Jim in FL --No-Advertising-in-Forums

The fill neck is located on the front of my 311b tank, as well as my 310b. They appear to me to be the same tank, but the tank on my 1960 model 440 has the neck in the center.

I couldn't find one. You might contact external_link. John Saeli at [email protected] or 315-585-9826 I think if anyone can locate one he can.

Worse case scenario, I could cut the filler neck off the tank you have and weld it where it needs to be so somebody in your neighborhood should be able to do it.
