Wisconsin AC4 engine off case?

I have just obtained a Wisconsin AC4-1 engine that appears to be complete.

I am told these types of engines were used on early Case balers and early pull type Case combines.

Do any of you know where I can get parts like a head gasket and possibly a ring set for this engine?

The AC4 is a 2-5/8 bore with a 3-1/4 stroke turning out a blistering 16hp @ 2600 rpm.

They were made between 1934-1945.

This is the first 4 cylinder in-line air cooled valve in head engine made.

There is one thing that I canít understand there is a pulley on the side of the engine toward the back and it has what looks like an ole magneto drive on the end.

The engine is in a frame and has a bell housing with an engagement lever and a 4-1/2 double pulley.

The little engine has a fuel pump, electric starter and a distributor. I even have the fuel tank but donít know where its attached. The carburetor is a Stromberg

The engine is stuck but seems to be complete. It was running when it was abandon

The AC4 engine was used in many applications. I have one in a Utilitor tractor and another parts engine. I think Olson Gaskets in Oregon can supply the gaskets. I have an origional Wisconsin instuction book and parts list for the model AC4 engine. Can you post pictures of your engine? Phil

Today's Featured Article - Pitfalls of Tractor Engine Rebuilds - by Chris Pratt. The first pop after you have put the machine together with your own hands is exciting and pleasing. The whole experience can be marred if one moves too fast and makes too many assumptions that they can just use "as is" some parts they should be closely scrutinizing and possibly attended to. In such cases, rework makes what could have been a fun project turn into an irritant or even a nightmare. Minor Irritants To give you an example of an minor but irritating proble ... [Read Article]
