Round Baler preference

What new or nearly new brands and models 5Ft wide would you look at? I'm currently running a Heston 956A (5th Heston) without net wrap. and would like to upgrade to net wrap for the hay that I sell.
I'm going to demo a new Vermeer Super M this week. I don't like the new New Hollands and haven't ran the newest Deere yet.
Would probably trade for a 956a heston with net.
Poor dealer support on everything.

I have been very happy with my 505 superI Vermeer, I have hade several NH's leased a new Deere, never run a Hesston but know several who do if I ever trade I will stay with the Vermeer not knocking any other unit just my preferance cnt

I have seen several Vermeer round balers over the years, but I have yet to see a true round bale come out of one. I would never buy one.

Does someone need glasses????? One of the best balers made!! Operator problems if not round. I would not have no other. A simple made baler less working parts than others. They will eat the hay. This is a old 604 super J.

those look like very round bales to me it does take some one who knows how to make a windrow and or know how to feed any round baler to make a good bale with them I see you also have the know how nice job!! cnt

We have had 3 vermeers over the years and they were all good ones!! Our XL series we have now makes as good or better bale than new JD baler. That comment came from a die hard JD guy. My two cents.

Thanks for the responses! forgot to make it Case related. The first four Balers were pull by a 930 Ck western special 6speed and a hand clutch.Used the 930 the first season on the 956a but it just didn't have enough power for the hills and Elevation of 6000+.

I hate to say it being a die-hard case guy but JD has a hell of a baler. We ran 45,000+ bales out of a 530 jd and traded it on a new 568 a couple years ago. The 568 is an animal and net wrap is handy. Around here vermeer used to be king but now there is no support for them and some issues with the Super M turned everyone to the green side. I used to work on New Hollands and don't wish that mess on anyone.

I have run 3 Vermeers, a 504C, 504F, and now a 554XL. The C baled hay, the F was a good baler, but this XL baler I have had quite a bit of trouble with. I have trouble getting a bale started, the belts are in good shape but will slip on the upper drive roller starting a bale and this will cause it to plug. Some guys have put friction tape on the upper roller to help this problem, I have adjusted the angle of the pickup teeth to the chamber and tried all manner of raking double windrows with a wheel rake or baling out the windrow behind a 9 foot swather with little success. The net setup works flawlessly once in a blue moon, but a lot of days find me unwrapping net from around the drive rolls below the knife on the net, the cradle must be polished and most of the time the net brake (a metal cradle that sets on top of the net) must be disengaged to let the net feed) Then for a reason I haven't discovered the net likes to wrap around the lower drive roller on the the right hand side only where it feeds into the bale chamber. If I bale 100 bales in a day it will slug 10 times. I must also tell you that the Xl now has 18,000 bales on it also, I wouldn't day it's a bad baler, just not as user friendly as I think it should be. With that said I am seriously considering trading this winter. A couple friends of mine are NH mechanics and both farm on the side as well, both cautioned me to stay away from the BR series due to the number of moving parts. I am considering a newer Deere 566, 67 ect. Just my experiences.
