SC Case Governor Assembly

I just installed the governor assembly on my SC Case after removing it for cleaning and painting. After I had it all bolted back on, I got to wondering if there was any timing marks that I was suppose to pay attention to? :-(
I.E., does the magneto flange on the governor need to be in a certain orientation with #1 cylinder at TDC?
I had a magneto on it, but I'm installing a distributor.

Forget the timing marks, you're putting a distributor in so get #1 to TDC and adjust distributor to fire there. Yhe only complication would be selling it to someone who can only go by "the book"

Gtski, That's kind of what I was thinking, but it's always nice to have a second opinion, lol. I haven't got to tear into the "right angle" distributor that's replacing the mag yet, but am assuming that it can be indexed 360 degrees to time the engine where ever needed.

Yes there are timing marks on it. You will need to crank the engine until the 3/16 hole in the flywheel is centered in the hole on the right side of the bellhousing. Then take a mirror and you should be able to look on the front side of the camshaft gear and see a single punch mark. That mark needs to go between the two punch marks on the governor gear. BT

Thanks for the reply BT. I'm familiar with the timing mark on the flywheel. I'll take the governor back off tomorrow and see if a mirror will work. If not, the owner's manual shows the magneto drive slot at 25 degrees down from horizontal when the flywheel is in the correct position. That might get me close enough, then I'm guessing I could "tune in" the timing with the distributor itself.
