2290 rear end noise

2290 with 6500hrs started a new noise from i think the rear end now how to describe the sound is the tough part it reminds me of the sound a loaded two ton grain truck makes loaded in granny gear if that makes any sense to anyone i have replaced hydro filters with no sigh of metal found and also noticed when pulling down hill the sound isnt there ?

Sounds to me like you have excessive play somewhere in your drivetrain. Reguardless of it's location unfortunatly this will require a trans teardown to remedey and at that time you will discover the exact cause of the noise. Rod
