Used my big 400 on the blower the other day and it seemed to work good and have good hp, but no matter how hard I pulled it I only got a real light smoke. If you watch the video I posted you can see it at the end. At that point it was pulling about all it could. I always thought they would smoke quite a lot under full load. I have the pump set almost all the way open acording to the directions I got here. Also at low throttle the governor doesn't seem to work as it should. It won't open and pull at all unless you are at least half throttle. As I said it seems to have adequate hp, I'm just wondering if I have some other problem. Thanks.

Not sure what size plunger is in your hydraulic head, but if it 7 or 7.5 MM size it won't have much excess fuel ability even with stop plate removed so you won't see heavy black smoke. If pump is original look on tag to find size, is listed just after PSB 4A, 70 is 7 MM, 75 is 7.5 MM, etc up to 100 which is 10 MM plunger size.

Ok, thanks. I'll check when I get home. I never had a case with rotory pump before so I didn't know what to epect. Have had 730'3 though 1030's tho and they all smoked a lot more, thats why I asked.

I've a low hour 400, excellent runner, but it does throw a bit of dark smoke under load, I've an 11 foot case disc, and if I drop it down in my loamy ground it'll snort. Where in MN are you? I'm North of Alexandria
