Can anyone tell me about these shift accumulators? Iíve just checked them on my 7140 and one is only 10psi and the other is 40psiÖ.I think they are supposed to be over 100psi. The tractor is still shifting ok. The op manual doesnít mention them and I donít have a shop manual for this tractor. Are the accumulators easy to charge, and what pressure should they be?

Thanks,
Chris

135 pounds of compressed/dry Nitrogen. Carefully push in the valve stem and make sure there is not oil in there. They go bad sometimes internally.

U should double check but I THINK 125#. U need a tank of compressed nitrogen, regulator, and a charge hose. The best way is with actual charge fitting, but can be done with a tire chuck. Must use nitrogen. Tractor will shift much smoother.

Today's Featured Article - Uncle Cecil's Super A Lives Again - by Mike Purcell. A week or so out of most of my childhood summers was often spent with my Uncle Cecil and Aunt Sissie in the small East Texas town of Maydelle on their 80 acre farm. Some of my fondest memories of these visits are those of learning to drive a tractor at the helm of Uncle Cecilís 1948 Farmall Super A. Uncle Cecil was the second owner of this wonderful little tractor, but it was almost as though he had adopted an infant. The original owner was a man from Minnesota who bought her from a local dea ... [Read Article]
