400 eagle hitch adjustable link

I have been working on putting the original eagle hitch lift arms and links back on my tractor. Grandpa had put some other lift arms to better fit category 1 implements on it and fortunately kept the originals so I don't have to find replacements. I have been working on the adjustable link and was wondering how the bottom end of the rod is treaded into the casting that attaches to the lift arm. There is a gap between the threads on the rod and the casting so it doesn't appear to be directly threaded into it. I'm not sure if there is a nut up in the casting. I have studied the parts diagram and it doesn't seem to show how it is put together very well. I need to get this freed up so that when you turn the crank you can level the lift arms.
Thanks.

Slip the threaded rod into the casting and turn it in the the threads start an inch or so down from top of casting should work unless threads are striped. hope this helps. Jim.
