Hhhmmmm, gear shifter for forward and reverse the arm would be the trip, turning a screw to extend the shaft? Very heavey duty too. Anxious to hear what this is. My guess.. cotton picker?

this is a view looking down.. i think it may be Case A-6 or F-2combine that is nearly forgotten ,, the unloader lever is visible

Is it on a corn picker? I can remember we had a one row picker that used a gas tank cover on the 90 degree gearbox.

Wow, that gearbox uses the same cap as is used on the S and D gas tanks (I happend to have one in my hand when looking at the pictures).
