12.4x28 tires on VAC?

Thanks for the replies. I'm trying to decide whether to get hubs and go with 34" tires, or up the size of the 28's. Going from stock 10x28 to 12.4's increases the overall tire height by about 5" by my rough measuring. 11.2x34's increase it by 10". Decisions, decisions... :)

If you go to 36" tires and rims, it will speed your lower gears up considerably. Depending on what you primarily use it for, it could be viewed as good or bad.

not a direct comparison here.. but i have a ford 950.. I put some monster 14.9-28 tires on it.. quite a bit of difference inthem than a 12.4 and still a good lot bigger than a 13.6 makes the trasctor a lil taller.. but looked good.. fenders might be an issue if you ever used chains or something.

i have a pic of that 950 from the rear while changing tires.. has 1 11.2-28 on it and 1 14.9-28 on it if you want to see the difference :)

had a spare set of 8n rubber on her while I reworked thepower adjsut rims on that 950.. took me all winter to do so that year.. but got em together.. the 8n rubber made the 950 look like a low rider.. :)

12.4-28 is the correct tire size for the VAC-14. Case originally used old-size 11-28 tires with the 10-28 rims on this model tractor. The old size 11-28 is equivalent to the current 12.4-28.
My VAC-14 has 12.4-28 tires installed, and it sits level and looks correct. However, other VACs may have used different tires on 10-28 rims.

I'm assuming I have 10" wide rims, but they don't seem to follow the rules. They are less than 10" inside the flanges, but definitely more than 9 inch, and 10 1/2 outside. 34" rims are even funkier they seen to be neither 9 or 10, but something in between and unique to the 11.2x34 tire.

The old tires on my '49 are 10x28, and overall diameter is about 5" less than the 12.4's I have on a Ford. The rear is definitely lower than the front. The 12.4's may be a good fit, they'll increase the height without looking too big on the rim I think.
