530CK simple and easy question!

Hi...so on the 530CK Diesel, what is the [u:095d5f410b]correct factory/original location[/u:095d5f410b] to connect the ground from the battery?

I know its a positive ground for my tractor, so from positive post to.....?

you are sure its a pos ground? can't remember when they started building all "30" series in Rachine as all Rachines units were neg ground,,, but no matter just thinking out loud if it is pos ground the neg batt post is hook to the starter solenoid and the pos battery post goes to ground

Okay, thanks. I'll give it a try...right now its grounded to one of the transmission cover bolts...in a nice place Im going to step on it some day. Just figured I'd put it back where it belonged.

sorry probley just like my ag 530 and bolted to the torque tube by the battery, was not the best ground either on the backhoes we had starting troubles we ran a new cable right to the starter and fixed a lot of problems, but if you are goig for originality they werte close to the batt carrier

Easy way to tell is by serial number. If serial number starts with 6xxxxxx it is Rock Island tractor and has positive ground.

If serial number is 8xxxxxx it is Racine built tractor and has a negative ground.

This applies to all Case Racine and Rock Island tractors regardless of battery voltage built after 1953. First 430, 530 tractors built in Racine would have a serial number after 819xxxx

Why does the Case manual for the 530CK say negative ground started with 8232882 then?

My Delco Remy voltage regulator is stamped 12VP- seemingly a positive ground device. And the one part burned up inside, apparently, because someone before me hooked it up with a negative ground.

I'm pretty sure my tractor is a positive ground based on that...I just wanted to know where on the frame the ground cable attached to originally/from factory because how it is now, its in the way. If I don't move it, I'm going to hop on someday and step on the ground cable. Thanks for the input.
