530CK trans fluid disappeared?

Hello, I was looking to move my new Case 530CK for the first time since I got it. However, the trans fluid is near empty. Looks to be just a small amount on the bottom. No leaks apparent underneath...though I apparently got it in this condition.

Question is, where did the fluid go? What should I check/replace before I put 15 quarts in it just to watch it disappear? What fluid should I put in- manual says SAE90W? Thanks

PS- what is the proper length of the torque converter drive dipstick?

The front box does not hold #90 oil, it uses Hytran Ultra which replaces TCH, the original in that application. There are those who will recommend Dexron type ATF and that type oil was an alternate but I like the HTU for gear lube protection and non areating qualities. Check your rear end dipstick ahead and to the left of your four speed shifter to see if it is overfull. If so you have found the hydraulic oil you are missing. The oil can transfer three places, the PTO shaft seal, the front transmission seals at the two speed box or most likely the rockshaft piston seals if so equipped. Chech it out and get back as there are many on forum qualified to help with their own experiences and hints to help make the repair as painfree as possible. mEl

Thanks for the response. The rear end dipstick is what I checked, which lead me to my question. That area has very little fluid in it at all.

I can not check the front section, as the dipstick appear inccorect- it is only a piece of steel wire that looks homemade. Only about 2.5" long. Seems to hit something in the tube. With the problem starter off, cant see fluid down in the front section.

What to do?

Where is the dip stick found that you refer to? The torque converter level dipstick is located on the right side near the steering support just in front of the battery plate. It is a conventional dipstick with a loop on the top. The 4 speed box dipstick is appx 6=7 in long and the full mark in an inch or two from the bottom. The front box can be filled through the breather tube by the shuttle shift lever. Most CKs were not equipped with a PTO or rear hitch so my previous comments about leaks in these areas can be disregarded. mEl

Hello. Yes, when I check the flat nut type dipstick near the shifter the oil is all missing. Very little on the bottom, way below the stick. That is the one I'm wondering where the oil went.

As far the second problem, the other dipstick is to the top right of the battery. It appears homemade, just a length of steel rod about 2.5."

If the front is filled at the breather tube, what is the large flat nut just to the left of the starter?

Okay..I found that large nut near the starter is the plug for the timing hole.

Still trying to figure out where the oil went in the 4 speed tranny gear compartment. Got the oil for it..just dont want to pour it in and have it vanish again.
