Desert Sunset Paint ?

Painting a 770 Case and wanting to know if the Case dealers desert sunset is the most acccurate color to the origanal color? It took a piece of the 770 fiberglass grill that was broke off and was hidden from the sun and weather and put up next to a Case pedal tractor that I restored for my son a month ago and I painted it with Case IH desert sunset out of a rattle can and the two colors where not even close to matching. I did a 1270 a year ago with Napas Martian Seynour and there desert sunset and it was a closer match but the paint was much more expensive. Whose paint -brands- are the closest to matching the orignal? Thank you for any feedback!

770's were painted desert sun i believe!!! desert sunset waqs used on the older tractors!! the thrity series and older!!! if you can get the desert sunset from your case dealer its as close to the origanal from the factory!!!!

Here is the 400 I painted using Desert Sunset from my case dealer.

I painted the hood on my 930 last year. I used spray paint from my caseIH dealer. Used three cans all said the same but one was a different tan and I did the nose with it and it shows up. Same say you have to use the same lot number but when you buy off the dealers shelve and he only has three cans ,how can you??

Is that a Egging cab I see on the other side of your tractor? My picture is of my Egging Cab off the 930 pictured about the paint. One picture of how it looked with cab.

Jimmie I can see the difference! The hood is the same color as the pedal tractor I did a month ago with the CaseIH rattle can! It almost looks like a shade of yellow and I really do not like it-that is just my opinion. Your nose looks more like the original color. It is closer to the 1270 I did a year ago using Napa paint.I wanted to use the Case paint because it is more affordable than the Napa paint but I think I will use the Napa paint for the 770 I am repainting. I do not trust the Case paint. Thanks, Gregg

Hay Greg;
Are you painting the 770 that I sold to your Dad?
We have always used CNH paint with a synthetic hardner. (read the directions, 8 to 1 mix, I believe, very little CNH thinner) Goes on great and lasts great with little fading, and no chalking.
Sorry I missed you this summer, when you were out with the Tugger. We have been having health issues on three fronts this year.
Loren.

Hi Loren, I am painting one of the 770s you sold my dad, but not the one he has now. He painted the 770 he has himself this summer. The 770 I am painting was left at the farm when my dad sold it in 1988. Chapmans own the farm now. I saw Chapmans at Sunnycrest last summer, they came up to see me pull. They said the 770 sat behind the barn in the weeds for a few years and they were not sure if it ran and they told me I could have it. I picked up back in early November. We towed out of the brush, got it up to the road and tried to pull start it, couple shots of either and she fired right up-towed maybe 150 ft. Drove it on the trailer and took her home! It seems to run decent but i think she is tired. I am doing some maintenance to it,new battiers-starter works,fixing brakes, pto does work, not sure on 3 point hitch-the arms are tied up with baler twin-the cable is broke to the 3pt hicth and remotes not sure on those. The tires hold air. I dont want to spend a lot of money on it but I want to have a little fun with it and make it look new again.
