hi
i'm new to this site so hello to eveyone. i bought a case 580k which has 9000 hrs on it. i started doing some much needed maintenance. changed trans/hydraulic cooler in front, replaced all seals on 4 hydraulic cylinders.
i took out bottom drain plug on torque converter housing and quite a bit of oil came out. i don't think there is supposed to be oil in the housing. do anyone know what might be leaking. this is a phase 3 case with the shuttle being associated with the transaxle. any help would be appreciated
thanks in advance

Did you post this somewhere else? I'm sure I answered it in the last day or two. The large threaded hole in the bell housing is not supposed to be plugged. The housing is a dry housing. If the oil is consistently dripping from that hole you have a leak at the converter seal or o-ring. Fortunately for you it is a very easy repair as the #3 has a light aluminum converter housing which contains only a couple regulator valves and the large tranny filter. You can have it out of there in very little time and no lifting equipment needed. Sorry to say but I think that the seller knew of a problem and put a plug there for the sale. Check the converter stub for wear where the pump internal bushings run and replace the converter and pump as well if there is appreciable wear as that will allow movement that will make it difficult to seal. mEl
