267 turbo questions...

I am rebuilding my grandfather's 770. I have the crank at the machine shop getting trued up. Engine scattered all over the barn... Any way a few questions regarding the build. Not building a hot rod or pulling tractor , just aiming for a more useful farm tractor, 85 PTO hp would be nice to share the load/implements with a healthy 870, and a 1494.

Are all the 770/970 pistons a 3 ring piston, or did some use a 4 ring?

Any ideas of other turbos I could use besides the one from a 336BDT, that would be less expensive(looking at $850 or so since I don't have a core)? I was thinking the one for a Cummins 4BT might be a good match(slightly less displacement, more revs), and they are cheap. I can build the manifolds/adapters/lines if need be(have lathe, mill and welder, not afraid to use them).

Best/most cost effective place to get a overhaul kit(not Mother Fiat)?

I have a NOS pump for a 780B, any idea what the factory settings would be in regard to flywheel HP?

THANKS, RICH

Rich, I have used kits and turbo's from Hy-Capacity and A&I with good results just a suggestion as I get no kick back on this, I also would ike to turbo my 770 when I rebuild, my guess on hp increase is about 15% with stock pump fuel settings and retarded timing think its 2-3 degrees, I always go to the 1070 to 1170/75 settings, one thing I want to install along with a turbo is a engine oil cooler, cnt
