Found Case SC; scrambling to purchase; questions...

I"ve been keeping an eye on a Case wide front end SC for several months. This morning I got a call telling me it"s mine for $1,300 when the mechanic finishes with it since the real owner decided he didn"t want it back.

I took pictures of it today; forgot how to post them here, but can work on that. s/n for this tractor is "SC 8030397." It has an old Wagner loader on it whose s/n is, "WM4 SC DC 133." Still fair amount of paint on tractor and some fading decals, so I"m sure it"s never been repainted. Little, if any, rust. Rebuilt head. Three point hitch set up in back a with little step plate on right trailing arm.

Tires are, " 12 4-38." Calcium filled, which I"d rather they weren"t, but OK. Makes me wonder if rims are hard to find should they rust through.

90% straight sheet metal.

This will be my first Case purchase as I presently own an Oliver 1550. I"m pretty excited, but I"m really scrambling for that $1,300 as a retired person in the present economy. Still.....I think the price is fair.

Can anyone give me feedback and suggest what year it may have been built? Thanks, Dennis

According to the serial number guide here on this site, there were no serial numbers beginning with 803. Could it be a 603? or 503? Does the tractor have a foot clutch? The 53/54 SC's only had foot clutch.

I just downloaded my photos which included a photo of the s/n plate. Yes, s/n is SC 8030397. So, Tommy, this one is from the year where 1,910 were built of this model? Also calendar year 1910??

How common were wide front ends?

Dennis

1953; well I guess that was a pretty good year. I've 'gotta look up when they even quit making SC's.

I was wondering if wide front ends were more desirable than tricycles? Looking in the photo galleries, almost everything is tricycles.

for loader work I like the wide front better ona mower or cultivator I go with the tri-cycle because of the manuveritablity, wow that is a long word sorry my spelling sucks, cnt

Can you take a pic right up close where it pivots? (front axle)Has she been welded there?
It has a match set of rears doesnt it?
