I have a question for Case experts... Is the yellow used on the early 1070 and other 70 series tractors the same yellow used on the 30 series? And is the color called "Desert Sand"? Thanks guys!

I think if you contacted your local CaseIH dealer they would show desert sand as a paint choice, but probably don't stock it.

The color is the same from the 55 Case tractors thru the end of 1973 production 70 series tractors. It was Desert Sunset. The Desert Sand color has been widely described, but I don't know of that name ever being in any Case paint offerings. There was a cream colored paint offered on Case Utilitity tractors in the early 50s, but I don't recall what that was called. Ther is also a current Iron Guard paint called Power Tan. That is also an industrial color, not ag.

Hay Bro, can't prove this as the cans burnt in our shop fire in 72, but I remember having the discussion with my dad on the desert sand/desert sunset colors we had both colors and I wondered why we had both and he said the sand was the older color which was fazed out because the sand faded to quickly , now weather this was my dads guess as to why they changed I don't know but i do remember that we used the sand on the 30"models and when new you couldn't see much differance so the fading story seems to ring true ,on thing I know for a fact we had both color names on cans I am sure of it cnt later Bro

I have to agree with are cold weather friend adkCASE guy,, DESERT SUNSET is the only name of CASE color that i know of.. perhaps you are thinking? ,,in the home imp . industry Desert Sand is a very common earth tone color of Vinyl Siding , Ceramic tile , roofing shingles and some brick veneer,,. with all the double up blending we all seem to be doing to keep the farm and make a honset livin', it is easy to get confused over trivial details

Hay Jim Thanks for giving me an out if my memory has failed me. I have Owens Corning "Desert Sand " shingles on my house and they are far from being near Case colors.

Recollections of a John Deere GP - by Charlie Cook. I grew up on my dad's 280 acre general farm in Western Michigan. Dad's only tractor when I was very young was the old GP. My first recollection of this tractor was when dad allowed my brother and myself to ride on the tractor with him driving. One of us would sit on the left fender (away from the clutch) and other would sit on the gas tank and hold onto the crankcase breather pipe.
