530 power steering question

just bought another 530 utility tractor( loader wide front end 159 gas.) as a parts machine and it will be delivered on Tuesday. it is in non running condition and i will have to drag it off the trailer and push it somewhere till some of this snow melts. will steering it without the engine running damage any components in the power steering system? will i even be able to steer it?

I think there are two power steering systems. The early system
is mechanical with hydraulic assist, has a single hydraulic
cylinder parallel with the front axle. The later system is
hydrostatic (no nechanical connection between the steering
wheel and front axle) and has two cylinders under the engine.
You will not damage the system by steering without power but
it will be difficult to steer. You should be able to unload and
push the tractors a short distance SLOWlY. With the hydrostatic
system the wheel may rotate freely for several turns before
getting any steering action.

You might want to look at my photo ad for a Case 430.

i am surprised you are only asking 1200$. that is what i paid for this parts machine. tractors seem to be a little more high priced in NY and PA area where i live. do you have a rear clamp on type hub for the straight keyed adjustable width style rear axle? i overtightened mine last time i adjusted the rear wheel width and cracked the saddle.
