1175 or 1070

I know this isn't the puller post area but I would like to get the advice of the true Case page. I am going to be putting together a Hot Farm puller, 504 motor, 8 speed tranny, 20.8/38 tires, 10,000 lb weight limit 3" turbo, factory aftercooler. I have both tractors available, which chassis would you recomend?
Thanks in advance for your help

I would think the 1175 would be the stronger chassis as it has planetary hubs on it, but a 1070 chassis is more common for parts.

i used a 1175 rearend.i had the planitaries moved in ,which eliminated,i think 22" of axle housing and axle, per side.this was so i could use a rim with the center in the center, and not make the tr so wide.petersons ran this setup on thier prostock 15 yrs ago and i copied it.done away with the pto and hydraulics.used a electric pump to oil bearings and shafts with s spray bar, pretty simple to do.this type of rear is very strong.i took low range gear out and used a high range out of a 1070,which would split the gears in the 1175 trans, not a 50% split, but a split.this made 5th gear the slowest.i also gutted the cooler, part of the dash must be clearanced, and the factory brakes moved.i used wilwood master cylinders with ford ranger calipers and pads..i also made a adapter to eliminate the bottom half of the cooler, which would mount the top half directly against the heads.get ahold of tim jones and karl kaun, you must do something with the heads, which is going to be your biggest challenge to overcome.someone was recasting them with better flow, but i have been out of it for a while and cant tell you who it was.

Yes I All so Would Like to know just How You Could Narrow them Up.

A Torch & Welder ????

I think Some one is on Cloud 9 !!!

I would pick the 1070. Early 1175's had a heavier front axle and the rest of the tractor is just going to be heavier than a 1070. If you need to be at 10000 the 1070 will allow you some weight to move around.

i have a few pics ill try to find.in short the axle housing is removed, and the axle is cut to the correct lenghth, and resplined.a bearing holder is made to move the outer bearing in close against the rear center section .if i remember right it narrows the width by 44" total..call ralph banter he has done a few that i know of..and to dc741..i do have a cnc mill and lathe and with a desire to do something and some knowledge anything is possible
