1200 charging system

My 1200 has a 24 volt system can that be converted to 12 volt without changing the starter or are they different? (starters that is)

The starter is different, but is a common series. You can swap the drive and nosecone with a big truck starter. You have to alter the phasing for dipstick clearance. Alternator can be replaced with any 12V unit. The gauges are actually 12V with a resistor on each gauge to make them 24V. Bulbs will need to be changed. Actually a rather simple conversion. Loy
