VAI Front end

I have a 1949 VAI that has a square front end where all the others i have seen have round front ends under the grill can any one tell me what the difference was that this one has the square front i have only been able to find 2 others like this thanks dwayne

My parts book shows all VAI's after ser. 5265952 with the square front axle support.The square front axle support has a machined area often used for front mounted hydraulic pumps.I have a 48 with the round front and a 50 and 52 with the square front ends. Nick

Does the two that are square have a plate bolted to the front

Yes they have the plate.The plate is removed on the one's I have seen with a front mount pump.Nick

I found out that the cast number for that plate is VT 542, do you by chance have one or know where i can find one. thanks Dwayne
