One day clutch was fine, next day wouldn't release. Split tractor, throw out bearing shot so replaced. Pressure plate looked fine. rebolted tractor...still no release on clutch. can I adjust clutch or at least test clutch springs when I split tractor again? not sure what to do next. thanks, carl

Is it a new clutch plate? Could the lining be too thick? If it is the old clutch plate, the release rod is probably worn.

thanks for the reply. The clutch plate is not new, but pressure plate is not worn out. Is the release rod the same as the release lever? can it be adjusted? can I test the clutch after spitting the tractor but leaving clutch in place? thanks, carl.

I had a new clutch plate that wouldn't release and I adjusted the length of the rod until the clutch pedal hit the tractor housing when depressed. Are you to that point?
