Hi everybody:)

I'm Mike from Wisconsin, I own a pretty nice SC and I just made arrangements to buy a running DC which I intend to paint up and use for some light mowing work. I'm sure I'll have 1000000 questions in time, but for now I'll just bother y'all with two.

1) The DC's cast iron grill is white. Did they ever come this way?

2) SN starts with 8023557, tractor is 6v, hand clutch, no Eagle Hitch. Could this be right?

Thanks gang! I look forward to getting to know y'all and maybe even contributing a thing or two one day.

Thanks,
Mike

You raise a couple of interesting questions. As far as I know, all D series grilles were painted Flambeau Red. Some may have had black lettering; most of mine do.
As far as the Eagle Hitch, I am assuming that you have a DC4 as Eagle Hitch became standard on the DC3 after February 1952 and the first 80xxxxx serial number was 8023552 built on November 17, 1952. If your tractor is a DC3, it would have had the front end changed.

Thanks so much, Tom!

What is the difference between a DC3 and a DC4? Can you recomend a good book or website on these tractors?

I have a DC4 I bought a little over a year ago that didn't have eagle hitch, serial#8030321. I'm going to add the eagle hitch. It has the none adjustable heart shaped wide front.

The DC3 came with single front wheel or the dual narrow fronts or an adjustable wide front that sticks out in the front. The DC4 has a fixed wide front. Go to the tractor photos and do a search on DC3 and DC4 and you will see the difference pluse a bunch of various tractors. This site is one of the best for getting questions answered. Good bunch of guys. Also good source for finding parts.
