430 Series Hydraulic System priming

Recently split my tractor to replace the synchronizer. After re-assembling everything including replacing the hydraulic filter, the three-point does not work - not hydraulic pressure out of the filter housing fitting going to the three point. All lines are connected and the hydraulic fluid is full in both sections of the tractor.
Does the pump need to be bled to get this going? If so, how is this done?
The three point was fully operational prior to splitting the tractor.
Appreciate any recommedations.

What is this thing, a CK with mechanical reversor? There were no syncro gears in dual and triple range trannies. If you replaced a filter about 1/4" thick with a paper/metal constructed one you should have cnanged the washer on the bolt with spring to accomidate the thicker filter. As long as you correctly reassembled the tractor in a clean and orderly manor, and fluid levels are correct, it should work. My memory is a bit foggy here, but i think some pump drive gears had a collar in them for a shifting fork, so that the pump could be disingaged. If so, there should be a 5/8" shaft with a tab on the end under the valve bodies that can be moved in or out. Perhaps John S or ELb will chime in,

Appreciate your comments!
My tractor is a 440CK with a dry clutch and a forward/reverse shuttle. It sounds like something got "dis-engaged" when I put the two halves of the tractor together. I don't really understand this seeing how the the only interconnect I saw was the re-engagement of the main drive shaft to the coupling coming from the foward section of the tractor. What should I be looking for at this time? Do I need to split the tractor again to correct this problem?
Really appreciate you advice!
Mike

Mike, I am not very familiar with the 430 series but the hydraulic control valves on the early 430 with dry clutch are the same or very similar to the 300 shown in the pic.

That plunger engages/disengages the hydraulic pump drive. All the way in is engaged. I don't see any need to disengage the pump drive during a rear split as one might want to do on a front split.

I would bet Joe is right, my 1960 630 has this on/off feature and I would bet the 530 and 430 do as well unless this was dropped on later model 430s. This could have easily been moved during the spitting, disassembling, reassembling and putting back together process. Probably first thing I would check before turning any nuts or bolts.

Did the two halves mate together completely with little resistance or did you wrench it together. If you forced it you may have crushed the cover on the presure plate. there are 2 shafts that you have to align splines on. The solid transmision shaft and the hollow pump driveshaft. the hollow shaft can be difficult to align as there is no way to keep it from turning without pulling the whole cover, with valves and pump off the torque tube. With patience and some rocking, wiggling, and joging of the motor.you should be able to mate the two halves without bolts.

My 1964 440CK does not have the engagement mechanism as seen the the picture provided by Joe (Wa). From what I have read, this was on the earlier models.
Ran the tractor again today and could not get the three point hydraulics to work. It's just not picking up the fluid from the torque tube as it should. Even the new filter is still bone dry after 30 minutes of running.
Any "tricks of the trade" would be appreciated!
