Does anyone know what the wheel color and wheel paint code was on the 38 L's? I've seen pictures of several painted gray with red wheels but the only visible plant left on mine is the Flambeau red. Its hard to believe mine was ever gray. I'm thinking about going back with Flambeau red. Thanks, Brian (Alabama)

I am sure that all Model C and L tractors were grey with red wheels. Flambeau was not introduced until the D series came out.

Thought some of the last R series were painted flambeau.

I was told that L's with electric start were almost all painted Flambeau from the factory.

Seven years ago this month I bought this one.

I have one that is a 38 that im going to get done someday. Its been flambeau and is mostly rust now. I looked it over good and never found any gray or red on it i even tried to look under the serial tag. Thats untill i removed the rear wheel weights then i found the original red on the cast centers. There is also a faint trace of gray on it. I found it after i removed the rear wheels and scraped some grease off at the end of the axel tube. Does yours have a starter on it? If so how is your generator mounted inline with the mag or similar to a LA on the left and belt driven? Thad

Sorry, there's no starter on mine, only the blank but a generator was crudely added for lights. It was driven by the belt pulley. I'm with you on the Flambeau... what little paint is left must have been put there early in its life.
