530 price when new?

What would a late 60's model 530 have cost new. It is a plain 4 speed. My father bought it at the neighbor's farm sale. The farmer's wife's father bought it new. Did didn't tell me what he paid for it, runs good, but the brakes have a tendency to lock up. It hasn't been run much in the last 3 or 4 years. I will get a tune up and service this summer. Needs fenders and some emblems(hopefully the neighbor still has them).

According to CH Wendel's book, a 530 standard tread diesel retailed at approximately $5640. It doesn't say what the gas version cost.

There are also rear lower side panels that are missing. These bolt on just under the chrome trim strip and the left hand one has the serial number tag on it. See if you can get these too. You really need them for the serial number as that is the only place it appears on these tractors.

Good looking for it's age, I 'm wondering about the age? and 530? or 430 the side panels have the stainless strips on them? I thought they were replaced with just decals describing 530/430 and the size of the tires? somebody step in here am I wrong? it looks older than the 60's maybe late 50's

According to the Case IH parts website, the serial number should be between 8262800 and 8297800 based on the oil filter location/placement and throttle linkage. That and the tractors original owners manual says for serial numbers 8262800 and after. That should put the year mid to later 60's I believe.

the parts manual says that a "general purpose" spark ignition is a 541. a "standard" is a 540 spark ignition. The diesel variants are a 531 and 530 respectively.

I don't see where in the book(online parts manual) there is any more to the hood sheet metal that may be missing. the hood sheet metal appears to be divided into 4 sections: dash, gas tank, engine, grill section. The gas tank section's lower edge of the sheet metal curl under and look like a finished end. maybe I'm missing something.

The tractor has the "power adjusted" rear wheels. 12/11x28 according to the parts manual. Don't know what size they have on it. It was cold when i was looking at it.

Thanks for the ideas on cost. The only thing I could find was the $5,700.00

I'd like to find out more about this tractor. I was looking and I think all missing emblems are just decals.

It does have a hand clutch. Not sure how that works. I'm assuming by lifting the lever(as it is close the the floot boards), it will disengage the forward motion of the tractor leaving the p.t.o. "live".

Not sure if this helps much. This is picture of my dads 1966 530 Case yours looks to me to be in the 60's?

I do have a question, what size are your front tires is on yours? The ones that are this 530 are 14" I was thinking they be at least 16"?

Jim Garner is correct. There is another piece of of the hood on each side that bolts on under the chrome strip. These pieces tie the dash section to the front portion of the hood, and cover more of the area underneath the tank and above the the hydraulic valves. The serial number plate for your tractor would have been attached to the piece on the right side, just ahead of the dash.

bty - nice 530. she looks like a dandy. - Joe

Mike this is the tin work page from the Case IH parts site based on the location of your oil filter. Also look like Case designers wised up on the serial number plate and relocated the plate which is also shown on the Case site. Attached is the page with your tractors tin work and it does include the rear lower side panels so you may want to look a little further for these. The only emblem on this tractor is Ole Abe on globe chrome piece on the nose cone which was probably removed when it was repainted. You are extremely lucky the trim strips were retained because these are next impossible to find and if you do they are worth their weight in gold.

Thanks everyone. I see the skirt piece now. I'll definitely tell my dad to see if he can get those pieces. I'm hoping they will still have them. They did repaint her some time ago and I'm assuming that is when they took those off.
