Have no idea when they were off last, is there trick, or a certain way they come off. I removed the little drain plug to drain the oil from the filter, put on a 1&1/4" socket on the canister bottom( I am assuming it comes off the normal righty-tighty lefty-loosy direction), and I couldnt get it to come loose. Even cracked the socket, albeit it is a made in Tiawan socket. I dont get why it would be so hard to get off. Any advice or has any one had the same issue. Do I need to just get a better socket, longer breaker bar and just give it the juice??

You may have to heat the area just above the cap, Heat a few inches around the can and it should come loose. Do not hit the cannister as I have seen them split straight up the can. After you have the filter out, don't forget to remove the cold oil bypass from the old filter and install it in the new one, they often stick in the cork and I have changed many where the spring was sitting against the filter and the hole was open to the inside of the filter. mEl rendering the filter worthless

Yeah,"COLD OIL BYPASS " That almost happened to me .. LEFTY LUCY is the game , when doing my 1070, i called the dealership to make sure .., I had to Use a hefty Pipe Wrench and a 4ft length of 2"pipe,..Tractor was hot from travel hauling Round bales... Golly that Canister Was Tite. POwner had not used the gasket. If You get the gasket seated right , There Is No need to Tighten it so UN GAWDLY tite,,. tighten and loosen and flatten with a pocket knife until it no longer pinches and stretches which leads to cause breakage
