Generally, the later the model of backhoe, the better. I really like my 580B because of its physical size. Its smaller size makes it easier to get into tight places, though it could use a little more power.
The first Case backhoe to have a separate engine from the transmission was the 580C. That's why there is a Cummins repower engine from that model and newer.
