2390 oil cooler

i have just put the front half of a 2390 on a 1175 rearend. not sure if i am passing the hyd oil the right way through the cooler. also the lines on cooler seem to be tied together with a steel fitting about 5 inchs long, what does this do. any help would be great. thanks Steve

The pipe you are talking about is a bypass valve. Looking at the cooler, the top or inlet has two bends in it. The bottom or outlet has one 90 degree bend.
