Is this a deal?

I am looking at a 580 Super E backhoe.

It shows 5,500 hrs but the tach doesn't work. Does that stop the hour meter?
All other gauges work.

Back tires are about worn out but no leaks or cuts.

Bottom panel of 1 door is sorta loose.
Glass is all good

Good front tires.

It was bought new in 1985 by the seller/operator.

New battery, 2-3 cylinder packings last year. No noticeable leaks but did not work them

Sitting for 2 months showed no puddles underneath

All the sheet metal is on it and in good shape.
Enclosed cab (never had air)
Lights all work.
Includes 18" & 24" buckets.-some welds and buildup weld.
Front bucket in good shape

It had not been started for 2 months and fired up today in about 15 seconds with no smoke.

Is this a good deal for someone looking for another toy for occasional use on the farm?

What do I need to look for?

What are the weak/ expensive parts to replace?

Thanks, Greg

I paid $14500 for a 1985 Case 880D excavator and that was delivered. If you are looking to clean fence rows get an excavator as they are the fastest easiest and safest way. I would think that backhoe would be worth about $5000 or less but I am cheap!
