Got the SC running for a short burst this morning, but it has a float or needle/seat leak, and really needs a kit. I'd like to buy one locally, but no dealer. Anyone know if NAPA has a kit and what the number might be? Or does anyone have a carb kit source who can get me one pretty quick? Other wise I have to hit the road on travel week and she will have to sit while I am gone, then the parts could come by slow boat.

You can get most single parts from dealer. May need an old dealer that has the updated numbers. Most times all you need is bowl gasket, needle and seat and manifold gaskets. Last kit I got I still have most of it left over.

Most of the major catalogs and even YT sells those kits. You can even find them in eBay stores. I ordered mine online and got it within about 3 days or so.

Thanks,Alan. I went to the Tractor Supply web site and looked over their kits and they listed one for an Allis WC that was the same kit, amd my local store had one in stock. Go figure. She is running pretty well now, as soon as I can get the shape of the governor to carburetor rod figured out.

If it weren't so cold and snowing right now, I'd run out and take a photo of mine to send. I'm in the process of putting 2 SC's together to make one good one. I might try for a pic tomorrow if it warms up and melts some.

Gov to carb rod orientation SC in reply to Alan Golden, 01-27-2009 16:09:18
Thanks! The neighbor had his SC sitting out in the weather for about a year now. He bought it from a guy who told him that it ran when parked....It sat through two tropical storms along with all of the other rain events here in north Florida, so I drained 5 gallons of water out of the tank, made a new fuel line, cleaned and de-rusted the tank, carburetor, ignition system, adjusted the valves, and she fired up nice. I cant get it to pull down to a complete idle, though. It will stay down if I push in the linkage, but the governor will not pull it down. The rod has been tampered with, so I removed it and freed up the swivels, but it looks to me that someone has "straightned" it because with the swivel ends all the way on it apprears a tad long to me. Now if it had a bend on the top and bend on the bottom like sort of a lazy "Z", I think it would be right. I looked in the archives and found that someone said that they thought that it was about 13 1/8" from pivot to pivot. Wish I knew that distance for sure. I will go out tomorrow and measure it, but a good photo of one with the correct bends in it would be great.

The rod on mine does not have any bends. Both ends are threaded so the swivels can be screwed in and out for adjustment.
