Cast iron valve cover? You've been around too many Cases. I've never seen a cast valve cover for a WD. Early DC cases had them though. Won't swap either.

I generally can't afford parts out of Texas. Are you sure it is for a WC. Everything is Bigger and better in TX and that goes for prices, too. The last heads I bought would have cost twice as much in TX as were I bought them.

I'd have to see that cast cover to believe it. Sounds like he was out in the sun too long last summer. Here is an idea, If you have a child in high school and can take metals shop, see if the schools shop can cast aluminum. When I was in school I copied several valve covers with aluminum. It was tricky to do steel copies, but I still have a one of a kind set of valve covers for a 302 Ford that were made with steel patterns. Brian

Third Brush Generators - by Chris Pratt. While I love straightening sheet metal, cleaning, and painting old tractors, I use every excuse to avoid working on the on the electrics. I find the whole process sheer mystery. I have picked up and attempted to read every auto and farm electrics book with no improvement in the situation. They all seem to start with a chapter entitled "Theory of Electricity". After a few paragraphs I usually close the book and go back to banging out dents. A good friend and I were recently discussing our tractor electrical systems when he stated "I figure it all comes back to applying Ohms Law". At this point
