the generator has two terminals "A" and "F". IF you take off the wires and ground the "F" terminal to the frame, start motor and chekc voltage across the two terminals. you should get about 12 volts on a non regulated 6 volt system. --Now, connect the the "A" terminal back up to the cutout. cutout to ampmeataer, ampmeter to battery and startup ( "F" is stil grounded). start tractor, you should now get full charge, about 8 amps. --Last step is the test the "F". the F terminal runs to ground thru the light switch. with lights on it is 100% ground. with lights off it is grounded thru a resistor on the switch and does not get "full ground" and therefore only charges 3 amps. Note the switch and resistor must have a good ground for the generator to work.
