This is a situation when you say to yourself, "Self, never add engine oil to an engine that's running. Air is pulled in and out of the crankcase as the pistons move up and down." Theoretically, there should be no air movement because one piston moves down as another moves up. But, you still get the oil blown back at you if you try to add while running.

I might be dumb, but I ain't ignorant. Checked the oil level with tractor engine off. Keep it in the back, no oil back there. Drove around the front and tried to add oil. I've added oil to many a running motor, never had this happen. It'll never happen to me again. Thanks for the feed back.
