You say there is good compression on all cylinders? I would check again and then if the compression is low on the front two, then check if the valves are closing. I have a ca that did the same thing and the front two cylinder intake valves were stuck. I sprayed around the base of the stem with wd40 then took a hammer and pecked the valves down and then took a flat screwdriver and inserted between the rings of the spring and drove the valves back up working them until they freed up. Hope this works for you. You may also have a push rod slipped out from under the rockerarm on the intake side.
