If your axle seals are leaking that has to do with the tranny/rear end oil, not the final drives. You have to spin the wheels all the way out on the WD to get those pans on the final drives down and the inside bolts are still a pain. I just did mine and use 80/120 gear oil in them. Got new gaskets from AGCO but kind of pricy at about $12 a side! Would think permatex would be fine as this lub is not under pressure of any kind.Dave

Dave, You may want to rethink what you're attempting to say there?! The "pinion shaft" comes out of the differential and turns the rear axle (bull) gear which turns the axle. The "axle" is the rotating or static shaft on which a wheel turns. The gaskets are very easy to make from a roll of gasket material you can pick up at any auto parts store. Silicone would probably work fine; Permatex #2 is designed to be used with a gasket.
