I was told that a WC has a rear axle that looks like an old style truck rear end and that the brakes are controlled by a handle that comes out of the top of the final drive housing.
The serial number is stamped on a cast pad on the top of the rear end housing.
I havn't seen a WD but have been told that the engine in a WC & WD are the same.
If I can find an E-mail I got with the differences, I'll forward it to you.
I have been wanting to get two WC's from a salvage yard in my area but every time I go there to talk to the owner about them, we start talking about something else and I don't get a chance to ask about them. I'll try to get there again once the snow clears.
Hope this info was helpfull, Eric Perry
