If this were the "real deal", would anyone hazard a guess as to what fair value would be ?

If it was built after 1946 and the serial number said IB and it had the c-channel frame, and it was in this condition it would bring $3500. Maybe more if the paont was nice. Being built much earlier, having the wrong seat, wrong alternator, having a B serial number, and not being able to prove it was not converted over, i think $1500 would be plenty. It is an interesting little lookinjg tractor and, if he can convince one guy it is a IB.......thats all it takes.

THE IB MODELS BUILT BEFORE THE WAR HAD THE SAME SERIAL NO. SEQUENCE AS THE REGUALR B. IT WAS BUILT WITHOUT THE CHANNEL AROUND THE ENGINE. APPROX. 260 UNITS WERE BUILT BETWEEN 1939 & 1941 USING THE B SERIAL #'S. THAT IS THE CORRECT SEAT FOR THE IB.

I am wondering how to truly identify this tractor. Did A.C. have any production numbers on the pre-war IB's ?

no numbers prior to the war on the IB. The photo has the old B fenders and seat frame for the "bench seat. the pan seat looks like a IB, but the brackets to hold it on are homemade. the IB should have foot rests of thin plates and i see none. the brake rods from the pedal to the rear housing are not visible in the photos. the IB rods go above the axle. too many things wrong to believe it was a IB.
