Dave,
Sorry to hear about your misfortune! I assume it's a "J" series F/M mag. The magnetic rotors have a nak of coming loose, and as you witnessed makes things come to abrupt stop when they come apart! I had one customer come in one day with the side blown out of his mag because of the same problem. Fairbanks fixed that problem when they introduced the "X" series mag, which is almost identical to the "J" series when the cap & cover are on, but that's where it stops. When I'm rebuilding a "J" series mag, that's one of the first things I go to when I get one apart on the mag bench. I've successfully pinned some of the rotors, then they'll stay put! Well, you wanted to fix that leaky main anyway right?

Yikes! That's not good. I have a J mag done & ready to go if you need one, or if ya need some parts n' pieces for another you may have, between the two of us, we could piece one together and yer' back in business. Be glad to help ya out, you know that!
